Összefoglaló:
Karády Ignácot a neveléstörténet és az irodalomtudomány is Kossuth Lajos gyermekeinek nevelőjeként ismeri. Viszont azt alig szokás megemlíteni, hogy a reformkor ifjúságának húzónevei között tarthatjuk számon, akinek a munkássága a dualizmus korában is ismert volt kiadványai révén is. Mesefeldolgozásai úttörővé tették a gyermeknevelés és irodalomtudomány terén, de a felnőttek számára készített folyamatosan megújuló német formulagyűjteménye is forgalomban volt a hosszú 19. század végéig.
Személye és jelentősége feledésbe merült, pedig a Kossuth család és kortársai – mint Rónay Ignác és Görög Imre – elismeréssel adóztak irányába.
Jelen tanulmány arra tesz kísérletet, hogy a hiányos források ellenére hiánypótló áttekintést adjon Karády Ignác életéről és pályájáról.

Abstract:
Ignác Karády is recognized in the history of education and literary studies as the educator of Lajos Kossuth’s children. However, it is seldom mentioned that he was one of the leading figures among the youth of the Reform Era, whose work was also well-known during the era of Dualism through his publications. His adaptations of fairy tales made him a pioneer in both child education and literary studies, while his constantly updated German formula collection, created for adults, remained in circulation until the end of the long 19th century. His personality and significance have been forgotten, even though the Kossuth family and his contemporaries – such as Ignác Rónay and Imre Görög – paid him great respect. The present study seeks to provide a much-needed overview of the life and career of Ignác Karády, despite the scarcity of available sources.
