Temesvárnak és a Bánságnak aligha lennének Kárpát-medencei viszonylatban is kimagaslónak számító közgyűjteményei, ha a 19. század második felében a vármegye főispánja, idősebb Ormós Zsigmond országgyűlési képviselő, a pozsonyi Társalkodási Egyesület egykori aktív tagja nem veti meg az idővel intézményesülő kollekciók alapjait. Tanulmányomban azt vizsgálom, hogyan viszonyult szűkebb és tágabb környezetéhez, miként ítélte meg a korabeli ifjúságot, milyen irodalmi, művészeti és szociográfiai forrásokból merített, milyen követhető mintákat választott ahhoz, hogy művelődésszervezői tevékenysége kora egyik legtekintélyesebb magyar közösségformálójává, kultúrateremtőjévé emelje. A dolgozat központi fejezetében a Kölcsey Ferenchez fűződő páratlan viszonyát boncolgatom, ami arra is megfelelő keretet teremt, hogy a temesvári piarista gimnáziumtól az Óromániában szerzett tapasztalatain és a csekei sírhoz vezető szatmári útján át feltérképezzem közéleti életpályájának társadalmi bázisát, forrásait, eszményképeit.

Abstract:
Temesvár (Timișoara) and the Bánság (Banat) region would hardly have public collections that are considered outstanding in the Carpathian Basin if, in the second half of the 19th century, Zsigmond Ormós Sr., the főispán (Lord Lieutenant) of the county, MP and previously an active member of the Társalkodási Egyesület in Pozsony (the Discussion Association of Bratislava), had not laid the foundations of the collections that were later to be institutionalised. In my study I examine his relationship to his immediate and broader environment, his thoughts about the young people of the time, the literary, art and sociographic sources he used and the patterns he chose to follow, which allowed him to become, through his cultural management activities, one of the most acknowledged Hungarian community builders and creators of culture of his time. In the central chapter of the paper, I discuss his special relationship with Ferenc Kölcsey, which also allows for the exploration of the social base, sources and ideals of his public career from the Piarist secondary school in Temesvár, to his experiences in the Romanian Old Kingdom (Órománia, Regat) and his journey to Szatmár to visit the grave in Cseke.
