A tanulmány a magyarországi polgári fejlődés kezdetén, azaz a reformkor idején történő hazai iskolaalapítások, azon belül is az evangélikus iskolaügy történetébe nyújt bepillantást. Kővágóörs mezőváros 1841-ben létrehozott és 1873-ig működő algimnáziumának emlékét ma már csak egykori épülete őrzi. A tanulmányban feltárt iskolatörténet bizonyítja a reformkori vidéki evangélikus értelmiség térben regionális, de célkitűzésében egyetemes oktatási/művelődésfejlesztői tenni akarását és áldozatvállalását. Utal azokra a feszültségekre is, amely az iskolalétrehozók túlfűtött lelkesedése, az egyházi és helyi társadalmi és gazdasági erő korlátjai és a modernizálódó hazai oktatási struktúrafejlesztés elvárásai között alakultak ki. Egyúttal a hazai oktatástörténet fejlődéstörténetébe ágyazott intézménytörténet emléket állít a nemzeti haladás korai iskolateremtőinek.

Abstract:
The study provides an insight into the history of the initial period of civic development in Hungary, namely into the founding of Hungarian schools during the reform era, including the Lutheran school affairs. The memory of Kővágóörs high school, established in 1841 and operating until 1873, is now preserved only by its former building. The school history proves the willingness and sacrifice of the rural Lutheran intelligentsia in the reform period to make an educational / cultural development which idea was spatially regional, but universal in its objective. This study also explores the tensions that developed between the overheated enthusiasm of the school’s founders, the constraints of ecclesiastical and local social and economic power, and the expectations of modernizing educational structure. At the same time, the institutional history embedded in the development history of Hungarian educational history commemorates the early school founders of national progress.
